Join Élan Ensemble on a journey of vocal discovery as we debut hidden treasures from Napoléon’s court composers.  Found among the private papers of our locally renowned musician, Miss Eliza Ridgely of Hampton Estate in Towson (now a National Historic Site), Élan brings to life several new arias and songs of the early nineteenth century. 

While you may be familiar with Thomas Sully’s famous portrait of a young Eliza, The Lady with a Harp, you might not know that she also owned the first double-action harp in America. Eliza’s celebrated harp is now over two hundred years old and can be visited north of Baltimore at her merchant family’s historic home. Until then, we invite you to experience our premiere of Eliza’s beautiful collection of songs on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the lovely Hammond-Harrwood House located in the heart of historic Annapolis on Maryland Avenue!
