Empressa: energy, style, & enthusiasm
The Empressa Ensemble (f. 2015) performs music from the 17th–19th centuries in historic venues and museums, bringing modern audiences into the spirit of the musical and social world of past eras.
Empressa specializes in creating thematic concerts through the use of original editions and historical performance practices such as ornamentation and expressive gesture. We are passionate about enhancing the intimacy, beauty and significance of historical performance through chamber music.
Bespoke Programing
Our concerts form a unique sensory experience connecting music with the art, literature, culture, politics and philosophy of its time. After copious research, our programs are brought to life through engaging, yet informal concert lectures that illuminate the past and tell a story. In addition to existing concerts, we work with institutions to create complementary musical programs to accompany exhibitions and festivals.
